Knuckling Down On Nassau County

Union officials of Nassau County believe that bulk may not be better when it comes to Law Enforcement.

While Nassau County's 8 Police Precincts merge into 4, plans to collect more officers into potentially dangerous neighborhoods are going into effect as well. PBA (Police Benevolent Association) President, James Carver announced that the majority of the North Shore of Long Island will be without police protection. Officers of the 3rd and 6th Precinct will merge in the South to monitor places such as Valley Stream, and the Green Acres Mall (Patch.com).

Carver explained that the merger and plan of attack is called the 'Vacuum Effect.' He's afraid that with every critical second, time will be wasted transporting prisoners to and from, leaving posts unattended and unprotected (Patch.com).

According to County Executive Ed Mangano, even though officers will be placed out of certain areas, response calls will be treated as they were before (Patch.com). Additionally, a new online processor will obviate the issue of transport before the First and Fourth Alignment.

Nassau County to Boot & Tow Your Car If You Have 3 or More Unpaid Parking Tickets! Here's what you can do...

If you have three or more unresolved parking tickets, beware!

Nassau County Comptroller, George Maragos told 1010Wins “we are implementing a number of strong enforcement actions and the last thing we want to do is inconvenience them and have their vehicles towed... We need to get serious and they need to step up to their responsibility and pay their outstanding fines.”

The booting program is set to being the second week of March. 

“Well you can kick and scream, but you know, at the end of the day, you better pay your tickets or like you said it’s gonna cost you more money when they boot you,” said a Long Island Driver, (CBS.com).

According to Newsday and CBS New York, removing the boot will cost $150; retrieving towed vehicles will cost $125, plus $20 per day for storage.

All vehicles that are registered in NYS as a passenger class vehicle or as a commercial class vehicle are eligible for the custom plate. Other custom plates are available for Motorcycles that are registered in NYS. 

To order the commemorative plate, click HERE. If your current plate is not personalized, but you want a personalized 2012 Super Bowl Champions plate, the fee to convert is $78.75.
