Eating, Applying Makeup and Drinking Coffee Next to be Banned While Driving!

(516) 319-5822

In Nassau County, and many other parts of the country, it is illegal to text while driving. Furthermore, it is illegal to use any mobile device while driving, unless it has a hands-free option.

Experts believe there are a lot of other behaviors that are just as, if not, more distracting then texting-while-driving. Some believe that eating, applying makeup and drinking coffee should be banned to keep drivers focused on the road.

A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study showed “80% of all accidents are caused by distracted driving, some of which are caused by eating while driving,” (MyFoxChicago.com). They say burgers are the worst food to eat while driving, but the worst thing to consume while driving is hot coffee.

In Chicago, one trustee said she would like the local ordinance to “Crackdown on distracted drivers,” and that eating while driving should be one of them (MyFoxChicago.com).

Should Nassau County take efforts to ban eating, applying makeup and drinking coffee while driving? Do you think these are severe distractions, enough to fine a driver for doing so? Let us know what you think on TrafficTicket Nassau County’s Facebook Wall linked here
