No More Boozing On Weekend LIRR Trips From Penn Station

The Long Island Rail Road is making a huge step to stop the late night booze-fests on their departing trains from Penn Station from Midnight to 5 AM on Friday and Saturday nights.

The recent assaults on train crew members are one of the reasons that they NYPD will be standing on platforms on every Friday and Saturday night to reminder patrons to throw out their drinks before they get on the train.

The pilot program will begin on May 14th and there will be signs posted all over Penn Station so that train riders will be very aware.

Railroad officials tell Newsday that the effort is aimed at curbing unruly activity by drunken passengers (http://bit.ly/IsqYXt).

Could The Islanders Move To Brooklyn?

(516) 319-5822

With all of the issues surrounding the New York Islanders building a new, state of the art arena, some hockey fans are wondering what the future holds.

Will they relocate to a different part of the United States or Canada? Can they find an arena nearby so they can stay local? Well, with the movement of the New Jersey Nets in the NBA to Brooklyn, why can’t the Islanders just move there and play?

According to NHL Commission Gary Bettman, Brooklyn may not be a viable potential destination for the Islanders because it’s hard to reach for the team’s fan base in Long Island and Queens.

Bettman reiterated Friday that the league ideally wanted the club to remain in Nassau County. The Islanders plan to leave outdated Nassau Coliseum after their lease expires in 2015. Nassau voters rejected a $400 million referendum last year for a new arena (http://goo.gl/DUYrQ).

Although it will be a test to see how the arena and area can hold a hockey game, the Islanders plan on playing the New Jersey Devils in an exhibition game at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the fall.
Hopefully the Islanders can stay around for years to come as it generates a lot of excitement to a great hockey area on Long Island.

Actor Helping Drivers Avoid Parking Fines

We’ve all done it before. We’ve parked and fed the meter some change and went about our business. But then we remember, did I put enough money in? When we get back out to our cars, there it sits on your windshield under the windshield wiper: a ticket.

If you live in Los Angeles, you might have someone making sure that your ticket never happens. His name is Jake Gyllenhall.

He has been reportedly spotted topping up the parking meters of nearby cars to stop the drivers from getting tickets. The movie star apparently fed his spare change into the strangers’ machines after spotting an oncoming traffic warden (azcentral.com).

The 31-year old actor had done some charity work when he was younger, so he knows a lot about kindness at a young age. He believes in doing something good for the community, and this is one of those instances.

If you have a ticket from parking or any other traffic ticket, don’t wait for an actor or actress to help you out. Give us a call at 516-319-5822 and we can assist you.
