NCPD Officers Charged With Providing “Special Treatment”

(516) 319-5822

In one of the biggest scandals in Nassau County history, former Second Deputy Commissioner William Flanagan, retired Deputy Chief of Patrol John Hunter, and previous Deputy Commander of the 7th Precinct Detective Squad Alan Sharpe resigned in disgrace after being charged with providing “special” treatment to a teenager named Zachary Parker (theislandnow.com).

Zachary’s father, Gary Parker is a Manhattan accountant and wealthy police benefactor. Citing an anonymous source, the New York Post reported that uncharged cops including former Police Commissioner Lawrence Mulvery –“dined and wined with the father [Gary Parker] to the tune of more than $17,000 at pricey Long Island Restaurants,” (theislandnow.com).

Gary Parker’s large donation to the NCPD may have scapegoated his son who has been pulled over more than 20 times, and stole approximately $10,000 worth of electronic equipment. Regardless, Zachary will be facing charges for drug possession and driving while impaired by drugs (theislandnow.com).

Parents around the county are continually worrying about their teenagers, and this case has heightened their level of anxiety (theislandnow.com).
