No More Boozing On Weekend LIRR Trips From Penn Station

The Long Island Rail Road is making a huge step to stop the late night booze-fests on their departing trains from Penn Station from Midnight to 5 AM on Friday and Saturday nights.

The recent assaults on train crew members are one of the reasons that they NYPD will be standing on platforms on every Friday and Saturday night to reminder patrons to throw out their drinks before they get on the train.

The pilot program will begin on May 14th and there will be signs posted all over Penn Station so that train riders will be very aware.

Railroad officials tell Newsday that the effort is aimed at curbing unruly activity by drunken passengers (http://bit.ly/IsqYXt).
