A Williston Park man has been identified and linked to
the hit and run accident that occurred early Sunday morning killing 41 year old
Dean LaLima. Raymond Kalenka, 45, of Williston Park was arrested slightly after
midnight on Tuesday as the suspect linked to leaving the scene of an accident
of death.
LaLima was pronounced dead at the scene of the
intersection in Williston Park where Broad and Syracuse Street meet.
Robynelaine Kostulias, sister of LaLima, reported that he was probably riding
his bike home late after work when the accident occurred. She also reported
that LaLima was an avid bike rider and great uncle to her three children.
LaLima’s bike was found about a mile and a half from where the accident
happened.
Kostulias also reported that the arrest of Raymond Kalenka has brought a sense of solace for everyone in their family. Kalenka was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
Dean LaLima was the manager of one of Garden City’s
most popular restaurants, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria.
