The 2012 Summer Olympic Games which took place
in London have come to an end. The past couple of weeks have been filled with many
memorable moments and exciting sporting events.
The United States of America came out on top at the 2012 summer games. The USA finished with
a total of 104 medals! China had 88 medals, Russia had 82 and Great Britain had
65! The USA finished with 46 gold medals, 29 silver medals and 28 bronze
medals!
Sixteen of the
USA’s forty six gold medals came from swimming alone! The USA also took home
medals for gymnastics, basketball, soccer, beach volleyball and rowing! There
were also a lot of memorable moments for a number of athletes from the USA.
Michael Phelps was named the most decorated Olympian ever and Dana Vollmer set
a new world record for the women’s 100m butterfly final! Also, the USA’s men’s
basketball team or “the dream team” has they’re referred to landed their fifth
basketball gold in six Olympic games!
All of the athletes that participated in the 2012 Summer Olympic
Games all have much to celebrate and many accomplishments to be proud of!
