What a night for Raul Ibanez in the Bronx last night! Raul
Ibanez hit not one, but TWO home runs in last night’s game. One of those home
runs was a walk-off home run in the 12th inning to beat the Orioles!
Ibanez was brought into the lineup for the Bombers to
replace Alex Rodriguez in the number 3 spot.
Yankees manager, Joe Girardi, made
the decision to have Ibanez bat for Rodriguez who is just 1 for 12 with no RBI’s
and seven strikeouts in the series. This was the first time A-Rod had ever been
given a pinch-hitter in a postseason game.
However, Girardi reported he had to go with his gut feeling
and make the decision. The decision by the Yankee manager seems to have been
the right one! Ibanez is the first player to hit two home runs in a postseason
game in which he didn't start!
Congratulations to the New York Yankees and good luck in tonight’s
game!
