Although it’s supposed to be “the most wonderful time of the year,” Nassau County has witnessed its fair share of crimes this month. Here is the latest report from GlenCove.Patch.com on what’s going on around the Island.

Great Neck: two Great neck residents were among nine people charged with stealing more than $282,000 in bogus Medicaid benefits. Both face felony charges of grand larceny, welfare fraud and filing falsified documents. Additionally, both face up to seven years in prison if convicted. Seven other Nassau residents face similar charges.

Massapequa Park: Nassau County Police issued a county-wide warning on Thursday, December 15th, describing a deceptive technique being used to prey upon local seniors. Two incidents have occurred in December in which people posing as utility home repair workers have lured unsuspecting seniors away from their open doors while an accomplice enters in search of valuables. The pattern began in Massapequa Park on December 13th

Garden City: Former Garden City resident and New York Islanders GM Mike Milbury was charged with verbally and physically assaulting a child at a Pee Wee Hockey game last weekend in Brookline, MA. Reports state that the victim was a player on the other team. Allegedly, Milbury was coaching the Boch Blazers, who were playing the Boston Junior Blackhawks in a winter classic exhibition game in Larz Anderson Park. The Herald reports that Milbury's son, playing for the Blazers, was involved in an argument with another player when Milbury got on the ice, then yelled and shook the other player.
