Studies show that you are 23 times more likely to be involved in an accident when texting and driving.

Although many refuse to take the situation seriously, texting while driving is extremely dangerous.
48% of young Americans from ages 12-17 say they’ve been in a car while the driver was texting and 34% admit to text messaging while driving. What teens (and adults) fail to realize is that texting while driving is about 3 times more likely to result in an accident than driving while intoxicated.

New York’s law against texting while driving went into effect on November 1, 2009, forbidding the use of mobile devices for reading, typing and sending text messages while driving. The ban on texting while driving comes with fines up to $150.

816 texting-while-driving violations were issued in New York by State Police over the Thanksgiving holiday, November 23rd through November 27th, 2011.

Stop texting while driving! Watch AT&T’s new 10-minute documentary titled “The Last Text,” featuring stories of real individuals whose lives have been adversely affected by texting behind the wheel.

AT&T created this documentary as part of its “It Can Wait” campaign because they want consumers to be safe while using their technology. Take a few minutes to watch the documentary in its’ entirety. Share it with your family and friends, especially those known to text while behind the wheel.
