June is NationalPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month.  In recognition of PTSD, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano is partnering with counseling and treatment centers to highlight all of the services that are available to those individuals affected by the disorder.

In their lifetime, one in thirty adults will be diagnosed with PTSD. Overall, twice the number of women will suffer from PTSD than men. Some of the leading factors that cause PTSD are stress of a war, a difficult job market and many others. Many people aren’t diagnosed with the disorder and are unaware there is treatment available for them.

County Executive Edward P. Mangano commented on the issue saying, “I urge all who may be suffering from this debilitating disorder to utilize the professional mental health services and resources that are available in our region. I am proud of this partnership as we work together to support all of our residents in Nassau County.”
